Doordarshan News Channel chooses wTVision to do Channel Refresh

wTVision and Grasshopper Media were the companies chosen by the news channel Doordarshan News, an Indian public broadcaster, to provide a complete graphics operations service which included the Graphics Design, Consulting, Software and Human Resources Outsourcing. Learn more about this project!

Client's Request
The main requirement of this project was the development of a competitive identity (which includes the change of the complete look and feel of this public broadcaster) and also technology to establish itself in the highly competitive News Broadcast Market by providing skilled Designers, Graphic Operators along with providing the latest Broadcast Graphic Systems (hardware and software needed). 

At this stage wTVision has already introduced a fresh look and a completely new brand identity which has been launched for client’s prime band news bulletins. The same look will now be carried over for the rest of the bulletins in a phased out manner.

Software
Regarding wTVision’s software, the company is using 3 Studio CG solutions, which are integrated with a newsroom system (ENPS) through a MOS Gateway, having the templates data entry forms available in each journalists workspace. 

wTVision is also using 2 Ticker Manager solutions. The graphics templates are created by the designers, hired by wTVision, using a partner CG platform's design tool after which they're ready to be controlled by Studio CG which will then recognize all data entry fields and create an operator-friendly data entry automatically, reducing client’s dependency on programmers or integrators. 

HR Outsourcing
One of the first steps of this project was to contract a team of 20-25 people, who are being managed by wTVision India and are now responsible for the complete graphic operations at DD News.

To select the company to work with them, DD News based on an open tender and wTVision came out as the most accomplished team both in terms of design and broadcast technology. 

DD News was launched in 2003 and its terrestrial reach is 21.6% by area and 44.9% by population of the country.
