The Canadian Premier League is being held at closed doors and it demanded a virtual environment to simulate the best of a football stadium. wTVision developed the complete immersive solution.

In a joint effort with MediaPro Canada, wTVision developed a complete virtual solution to simulate a football stadium during live broadcasts of the Canadian Premier League.

All 36 matches will be held at closed doors, much like all other sporting events, but the location chosen by Canadian Football demanded a visual solution that would guarantee the entertainment and emotional side of football.

The Augmented Reality-built stadium is the result of wTVision’s very own technology, and it incorporates our control applications Studio CG (controlling virtual graphics) and FootballStats CG (for real-time graphics and data). Both systems are integrated with R³ Space Engine, a flexible real-time 3D render engine.

As part of this huge project, wTVison also provided its turn-key solution AR³ Football. The system is capable of providing standard AR graphics (such as offside lines or distance to goal) but can also generate state-of-the art virtual crowds, virtual cam carpets, and tied to the field graphics. The solution can then be controlled by any of wTVision control applications.

Additionally, our broadcast design team created the complete graphic design of the virtual stadium, preparing all visual aspects and implementing them in the most effective way.

This immersive virtual stadium is part of a safe and groundbreaking solution that makes sure live sporting events are still broadcasted to fans at home with the same visual impact. To make sure all the health and safety rules are being followed, live broadcasts demand a very small crew on site and a lot of the technical support is done remotely.
