Now we know that Portugal is the winner of the UEFA Euro 2016, it’s time to understand a little bit better the role of wTVision in this historic european championship.

As an experienced company in this kind of sports competitions, wTVision has provided a variety of services for different clients in Portugal and India. The solutions provided included a scorebug solution, statistics and live studio coverage.

For RTP, the portuguese public tv station, 3 main projects were delivered.

During the games, 1 operator used wTVision Sports Scorebug, a stand-alone product,  to manage the HD scorebug (teams, clock and result) and Studio CG to launch a lowerthird to identify the portuguese commentators, during the 24 games of this competition. The graphics presented had the official look&feel; and in 8 matches, the graphics were in 4K.

Still in this channel, wTVision’s staff also covered the late night comedy TV show, “A culpa é do Ronaldo”, a studio program mainly based on what happened during the Euro 2016 football matches. Using Studio CG, the operators controlled the on-air graphics, and Go Social, a cloud solution (integrated with Studio CG) to manage the viewers content published through social networks.

In order to engage viewers, during this enthusiastic period, RTP was launching polls with questions about the competition (team’s performance, coach decisions...). To answer these questions, viewers used a free mobile app, provided by Paxvoice, a social portuguese platform. The statistics coming from the audience were then being presented during the day, between programs, through infographics. wTVision took care of the integration between the results and the client’s graphic engine.

For its client NOS, a portuguese media holding company, wTVision provided live statistics for the client’s TV app. These statistics were gathered through FootballStats CG and integrated in SportStats Center, a central database that in turn was feeding this TV app, with information like goals, attempts, fouls, yellow cards, etc.

Finally, wTVision provided live graphics for Football Extraaa, a studio show produced by the official broadcaster of Euro Cup in India, Sony Six. Using the official designs provided by the customer,  wTVision’s designers customized them to the show requirements. Using Studio CG, wTVision’s operators launched graphics with relevant information of the teams, players and the matches. Go Social was also used to show tweets from the audience during the live programs.
