20 years growing with TV7 de abril de 2021

wTVision is celebrating its 20th anniversary this week. Two decades changing the way people watch tv, overcoming challenges, and focusing on innovation.

Born in Lisbon as a real-time graphics provider, wTVision quickly evolved into what it is today: a software development center, a production house, a playout automation specialist, and an ever-changing broadcasting leading company.

“Creating wTVision was the beginning of an adventure. But our company still represents constant change and creativity”, said Nuno Alves wTVision’s CEO and Co-founder. “We started in a developing market like Portugal, but quickly turned that experience into knowledge and took our chance in markets all over the world”.

The broadcasting company is now spread across 4 different continents. It has offices in Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Brazil, USA and Dubai, providing software, live sports, playout automation, and live production solutions as well as creative services.  What started as a small project is now home to more than 350 employees, numerous partners and clients, and huge worldwide TV productions.

While celebrating the company’s 20th birthday, Nuno Alves looks back on every major milestone wTVision has built and highlighted some of the most meaningful: “Becoming a software developer company was a huge step for us. It allowed us to create projects from scratch, adapt every product to our client’s needs, and be part of many more productions.”

Now, wTVision is part of more than 7.000 productions every year all over the globe. From small one-time events to huge worldwide productions, the company has the ability to cover the specific necessities of all kinds of live broadcasts.

“Our production facilities in Lisbon and our 24/7 Playout Centers in Portugal and Miami are the embodiment of our growth. To be able to welcome TV channels into our own offices was always one of the goals and we’re excited to see where the road takes us in that front”, added Alves.

The ride was not always easy and last year was the living proof that a creative team can make all the difference in the world. The global pandemic changed the broadcasting industry and forced companies to adapt at a much faster pace. wTVision took the production means at its disposal and offered remote solutions, creative immersive services, and made sure no project was jeopardized.

“I guess last year was the year we really took advantage of everything we built. To be able to have developers, designers and creatives, production teams and production facilities as well as flexible playout automation solutions, all in our multiple offices, was a fantastic plus in a quickly-changing market.”

Since 2001, wTVision’s list of partners and clients has become vast. The company is now managing data and graphics for 14 football leagues all over the world, it provides playout automation for dozens of TV Channels and has been a part of live productions in more than 60 countries. The constantly growing list of partners now even includes digital events, remote productions, and virtualization of playout systems.

On that front, Alves highlights the importance of Mediapro and the 20 years of partnership between the two companies.  “We’re part of Mediapro group since 2001 and some of our success is a consequence of that partnership. Thanks to Mediapro we found sustainable growth and huge projects to work on all over the globe. We can not talk about wTVision’s fantastic 20 years without mentioning that we are an integral part of one of the world’s leading groups in audiovisual production.”

For the next 20 years, wTVision’s goal remains the same: be a global leading company delivering innovative, creative and reliable solutions for the media and entertainment industry. “And to do that, we will continue to bet on talented people and teams. We will continue to take risks and embrace the biggest challenges, just like we did until now”, added Nuno Alves.
