wTVision undertook the production of the Asunción 2022 South American Games, in Paraguay, from October 1 to 15. In partnership with Hercules - Deporte Virtual, wTVision’s operators, mixed with trained local operators, produced games from this competition. Our team handled games from 47 different sports over a period of 15 days of production. This meant 15 participating countries and just about 7000 athletes across all sports.
This was truly a multi-sports event: from water sports to gymnastics not forgetting team sports, among many others, our team helped to bring all of this operation to life.
Our broadcast design team developed the creativity for the games overlay graphics, background loops, replay wipes and intro animations, based on the look and feel of the competition.
All of this vast range of roles was possible thanks to wTVision’s R³ Space Engine (our render engine), SportStats CG and, in some cases, a combination of Studio CG and the Scorebug plugin. This combination of Studio CG and Scorebug was key, given the dimension of this particular operation. It was crucial to have a solution that could manage such a vast number of sports, each with its own set of rules and specificities to manage.
This needed to be an intuitive process that adapted easily to such a big number of sports but also to allow our team to train local operators to operate the real time-graphics for the many different sports involved in an expeditious and easy manner, therefore taking maximum profit of local assets and shifting our staff’s focus more to supervising the operation.
With this set-up, based on wTVision’s software stack and production team, we were able to provide a complete solution for the largest sporting event in the history of Paraguay.
This project operated in 6 control rooms that were set up in Asuncion plus two productions carried out directly in OB Vans, accounting to a total of up to 8 simultaneous productions and more than 1000 hours of live content.
This tremendous project counted with the efforts and dedication of many teams within wTVision, namely our offices in Miami and the creative team in Portugal, as well as a dedicated staff that managed this operation on-site.
